3:00 – 5:00pm @ KSA: Working History: Industrial Heritage. Slide talk and presentation on the value of saving Industrial Sites and Architecture and the working history they represent. With curators and architects, Stephanie Fischer and Robert Stacey.

7:00 – 9:00pm @ Oxygen: BOOM! Exhibition, Site Specific Installation and Audio Tour with the artists.

9:00 -11pm @ Oxygen: After Party! and meet the artists. 

Saturday Sept 13

10am - 12pm @ KSA: Public, Planning and Politics: Creating Sustainable, Affordable and Livable Communities. Co-produced with SPAN (Social Planning Action Network). Panel Discussion moderated by Michelle Mungall with Dave Wahn, City of Nelson Planner, Derek Murphy, Consultant on Community Social and Economic Planning and George Penfold, Regional Innovation Chair at Selkirk College, Bev Derby from Stepping Stones for Success and Joyce Dahms-Wiffen coordinator of Cicada Place (To be confirmed).

1:30 – 3:30pm @ KSA: Ecology of the Creative City: Cultural Planning and Infrastructure. Bill Usher (Golden) of Kicking Horse Culture will offer a key-note address followed by a panel discussion with members the Nelson Cultural Sector including Joanna Maratta, BC Touring Council, Deb Kozak, Nelson City Councilor and Cultural Liason, Leah Best, Executive Director, Touchstones Nelson Museum of Art and History, Shannon Lythgoe, Executive Director of the Nelson and District Arts Council and Nicola Harwood, Director Oxygen Art Center.

4:00- 5:30pm @ Oxygen: Film: “Giants Leap / À pas de géants” and video installation:“Roundtable.” Film co-produced by Florence Debeugny and Lynsey Hamilton (Vancouver) and video installation, by Amy Bohigian (Nelson). Florence and Amy in attendance. A neighbourhood of single family houses in South Vancouver cope with the increasing pressure to sell out to condo tower development. Nelson community members voice their sense of place and community identity in an installation which posits the viewer in the position of listening simultaneously to the different voices and points of view.

7:30 – 9pm @ KSA: Heritage of the Future: Contemporary Architecture in a Heritage Context. Slide Talk and discussion of how contemporary architecture can invigorate a heritage cityscape with Richard Linzey, (Victoria) Senior Heritage Planner in the Heritage Branch of the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and the Arts (To be confirmed), David Guenter and Heather Maxwell (Vancouver) UBC students of Architecture and Thomas Loh, (Nelson) Architect / artist.

Sunday Sept 14

10am-1pm @ Oxygen: Breakfast and Architecture Talk and Tour: Discussion of UBC Student projects and Tour with Robert Stacey, David Guenter, Heather Maxwell Stephanie Fischer, Sue Stanger and Thomas Loh. Transportation provided by Queen City Shuttle. Limited seating.
