Develop your video and filmmaking skills in a mentored, group environment. Workshops on shooting, editing, lighting and film language will be integrated with critiques and studio production time. Students must have their own recording device: a digital photo camera or cell phone if no video camera available. Students must have some background in film making as a pre-requisite to taking this course.
5 classes: October 6, 20, 27, November 3, 10 (no class Oct 13)

Instructor Bio:
Miriam Needoba is an artist and filmmaker based in Nelson, British Columbia. Miriam graduated from the Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design with a BFA in 2001. She has participated programs at the Banff New Media Institute, the Berlinale Talent Campus and was one of the 2009 participants of the Astral Media Emerging Documentary Filmmakers Scholarship Program at Hotdocs in Toronto. Miriam’s experimental films, videos and installations have been screened and exhibited nationally and internationally. She is in post production on her first documentary film about Kootenay wildlife photographer Jim Lawrence, which was funded in part by the Columbia Kootenay Cultural Alliance and the National Film Board of Canada.
