WINTER, SPRING & SUMMER 2020

Resurrecting the Lost Art of Letter Writing with Rayya Liebich

5 Classes: Feb. 11, 18, 25, Mar. 3 & 10

Tuesdays 10 am – 12 pm

Course Description:

Modern correspondence through Email, Twitter, and texting provides efficient communication but the old-fashioned letter was a tool that connected us as human beings. Come re-discover the gifts of a powerful literary form.

Using great literary epistles as inspiration, we will craft imaginary letters and postcards to enliven our fictitious stories. We will also use the letter as a tool for personal exploration by writing and sending letters of gratitude (to people in our immediate lives and from our past), letters that cannot be sent but must be written (to the deceased, to those we can’t forgive) and time capsule letters to be opened only in the future by ourselves, or after our lifetime.

Materials will be provided but please bring your favourite pens and stationary.
