Focus:        Screen-printing + wheat-pasting

This two-day art intensive for young people (ages 11-15) will introduce techniques in screen printing with artist Marcus Dénommé. Merging activism and printmaking, students will engage with social justice image-making lineages to compose their own visual language and final artworks.

The first day of the intensive will introduce the medium, technique, and thematic subject matter. Students will work with Marcus to develop their final design, which will be ready-to-print the following day. On the second day, students will print a run of their design, coming away with a series of their own original prints.

Students will be invited to wheat-paste their original print for an installation in Oxygen’s O2 window exhibition space, on display until January 2025.

All materials included. Snacks will be provided for both days. Lunch will be provided on Sunday. Please note any dietary restrictions when signing up.

Students will be led by artist Marcus Dénommé with assistant Clee Alice providing support throughout both sessions.

The intensive will take place entirely at Oxygen Art Centre, #3-320 Vernon St., Nelson, BC (alleyway entrance). Accessibility notes, here.
