Oxygen Art Centre announces its 2024-2025 Board of Directors! Elected during the Annual General Meeting held on November 20, 2024, via Zoom, we are delighted to welcome new directors Erica Konrad, Emilie Leblanc-Kromberg, and Karmelle Spence-Sing. Having served on the board for two years, Alison Talbot-Kelly and Laurel Terlesky were elected to their second terms. We also welcome the return of Riya Garg, Carol Wallace, Christine Wallace, and Gabby Asbell—many thanks for your continued commitment and support of the artist-run centre.
Oxygen’s 2024-2025 Board of Directors brings great insight, experience, and excitement for the arts and culture sector. They are keen to support the artist-run centre as we embark on strategic planning and foundational systemic-change initiatives in 2025.
Nelson-based designer Riya Garg steps into the position of Chair after serving on the board since 2023. Garg is interested in supporting artist-run centre culture and cultivating experimental artistic practices in our community. Artists Carol Wallace and Christine Wallace continue their respective positions of Secretary and Treasurer, with Gabby Asbell returning to her role as Youth Chair.
Alison Talbot-Kelly and Laurel Terlesky return for their second terms. Both provide vital guidance to the Education, Exhibition, & Residency programs through committees devoted to youth programming and the annual review and selection of artists for public programs.
New directors Erica Konrad, Emilie Leblanc-Kromberg, and Karmelle Spence-Sing bring expertise and creative energies to the artist-run centre. Interested in supporting Oxygen Art Centre’s growth and future, Konrad, Leblanc-Kromberg, and Spence-Sing join at an auspicious time to help shape the centre’s direction and profile locally and beyond.
Oxygen’s Board of Directors comprises regionally based artists who provide volunteer governance labour for the non-profit artist-run centre. Elected by the Oxygen membership, the Board of Directors guides the centre according to its organizational vision and mandate and supports the Executive Director across Oxygen’s programs and fundraising objectives.
