SPRING BREAK CAMPS
WEEK 1 – March 17-20
THEATRE CAMPS with Martina Avis
March 17 – 20, 2020 (Tuesday – Friday)
ACT! – Theatre Workshop acting, games, movement, and performance
9am – 12noon
Ages 8-12
Cost $130/week
Build performance skills, play games, and learn dramatic techniques in this fun, fast-paced workshop. Students will work together and with the instructor to build a short play for performance on the final day of camp.
Audition and Monologue workshop (NOT AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME)
2pm – 5pm
Ages 13-18
Cost $130/week
Want to perform a monologue or learn how to give a fantastic audition? Bring a monologue or choose from a selection of classical and contemporary scenes to work with in this workshop. Practice finding motivation and ways to create characters. Never auditioned before? Learn how it works. Become more confident with cold reads and group auditions in a safe and fun space. All levels of experience welcome.

ART CAMP with Natasha Smith CAMP FULL
March 23 – 27, 2020 (Monday – Friday)
9am – 12noon
Ages 7-11
Cost $150/week
This camp will explore fun approaches to art-making including printmaking, drawing, collage and painting. With the opportunity to try out a variety of different art materials children can develop their skills and nurture their creative spirits. On the last day of camp we invite family and friends to join us for a little party and show & tell.

PRE-DIGITAL FILM CAMP with Brian Lye (NOT AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME)
March 23 – 27, 2020 (Monday – Friday)
1pm – 4 pm
Ages 12-16 (only 6 spaces available)
Cost $180/week
Hands on filmmaking! We will make short films on 16mm black and white motion picture film with a 1960s Bolex camera. Students will create a camera-less animated film by drawing on and projecting 16mm film. We will then process the film using a non-toxic developer made from vitamin C powder, washing soda, and instant coffee. This a fun, immersive, analogue, and hands on journey into pre-digital filmmaking.

KASLO Spring Camps at the Langham

KASLO PRE-DIGITAL FILM CAMP with Brian Lye

Cost $90

KASLO – A PLAY IN A DAY with Martina Avis
March 23 10am – 6pm (Mon.)
Ages 12-18
Cost $70
Work with a theatre instructor to build a play in a day in Kaslo! With lots of games, scene creation, improv, and storytelling, we’ll create a final performance in just one day.

SUMMER BREAK CAMPS
Exploring the Voice & Music with Della (Aka Erica Dee)
July 20 – 24, 2020 (Monday – Friday)

Cost $150/week
In this summer camp participants will have an opportunity to share their stories through songwriting and performing. They will spend time experiencing the power of their voices as instruments while playing with multiple techniques for self-expression. We will explore different genres of music while learning valuable tools for self-confidence, performance, and storytelling. This camp is designed for anyone who is interested in singing, songwriting, performing arts, and collaboration.

Shakespeare Theatre Intensive & Performance
2pm – 5pm
Ages 12-18
Cost $170/week
Macbeth:
Explore Shakespeare with fast-paced movement, drama, swords, and blood! Lots of (fake) blood! A week of Shakespeare’s creepiest tragedy (abridged) approached with energy, games, lively rehearsal, stage combat, and movement. On the last day of camp we will perform Macbeth at 7pm for friends, family, and the public.
