Oxygen Art Centre is delighted to share Gallery Assistant Daniel Reilly’s (YCW) digital zine entitled “queer film” (August 2023)! As part of his position, Daniel engaged in research on the topic of queer and trans representation in film. Through critical theory, writing, and watching a selection of films, Daniel composed the resultant zine featuring reviews, personal writing, and collaged images.

Daniel was employed at Oxygen Art Centre throughout the Summer of 2023 with the generous support of the Young Canada Works program. In addition to their research project, Daniel supported the artist-run centre by conducting research for the Exhibition & Residency program, developing calls to artists, event coordination, and arts administration labour. We are excited to follow Daniel’s practice as they continue studies at Concordia University in Montreal this Fall.

Daniel Reilly (He/They) is a film production student at Concordia University, Montreal. Having grown up queer in Nelson, Daniel strives to create more queer representation and outreach for people who live in small communities and rural areas through his filmmaking.
