Re: Letter of Support for Oxygen Art Centre’s application for Virtual Exhibit – Memory Palaces
To Whom It May Concern:
The Nelson and District Museum, Archives, Art Gallery and Historical Society is a non-profit organization who have the expertise in the area of digitization, having completed several VMC projects in the past. The Society and Oxygen Art Centre have a rich history of partnerships over the last decade, including the collaboration of exhibition programming, as well as, sharing resources.
The creation a virtual exhibit that includes Oxygen’s archive as it relates to its history over the last decade is a valuable community asset that should be preserved in the form of an online publically accessible resource.
For this partnership with Oxygen Art Centre to produce a Virtual Exhibit called Memory Palaces, the Archives department within the Society will provide the following support over a period of one year from December 2016 – December 2017:
- Contribute in kind professional museum and archival services to Oxygen Art Centre’s project to assist with preparing archival materials to meet professional standards for archival and digital preservation, and offer any other relevant assistance pertaining to the creation of Virtual Exhibit called Memory Palaces.
- In-kind support is valued at $30/hour for 5 hours = $150
In closing, The Nelson and District Museum, Archives, Art Gallery and Historical Society endorses Oxygen’s proposal and we look forward to assisting you in moving this worthwhile endeavour forward.
Sincerely,
Laura Fortier, MAS
