Beginner’s Brush – Discover Painting

In November and December artist Deborah Thompson will be sharing her extensive painting knowledge in two weekend workshops for aspiring painters.

Beginner’s Brush, on November 18 & 19, gives students the opportunity to start at the very beginning and delve into the basics of painting through demonstrations and hands on exercises. Beware! once hooked you will then be signing up for the second course Beginner’s Brush 2, on December 2 & 3, that investigates colour theory, paint mixing and application and further develops individual painting skills.
“This is an opportunity for students that have never painted before and those wishing to re-engage with painting” says Deborah Thompson. “You just need the courage to pick up the brush, progressions will be gradual and students will build a strong painting foundation”

Weekend Workshop – Beginner’s Brush with Deborah Thompson

2 days: November 18 & 19 12-5pm Saturday and Sunday

Course Description: This two day weekend workshop is a great opportunity to discover painting.
We will begin at the beginning! Students will be introduced to the basic concepts of painting through demonstrations and hands on the brush exercises in paint. The first day students will explore shape, mark, tone and space. The second day students will dive into the vary basics of colour mixing and theory as they apply it to painting. Both conventional and non-conventional approaches will be presented.

Course fee: $130  Material fee:  $20 + SEE LIST FOR REQUIRED MATERIALS

Weekend Workshop – Beginner’s Brush 2 with Deborah Thompson

2 days: December 2 & 3 12-5pm Saturday and Sunday

Course Description: This two-day weekend workshop is a continuation of Beginner’s Brush 1 and open to painters that have some basic painting experience. The course will focus on aspects of colour theory and then applied to various painting exercises. The first day we will look at how colour mixes and its effect on the creation of space. The second day we will explore ways to create texture with colour, in particular the use of tonal scale and value. Slide show will be included as a way to illustrate how various artists throughout history have used colour.

Course fee: $130 + Material fee:  $20 + SEE LIST FOR REQUIRED MATERIALS

TOTAL FEE: $150
