Youth film night fundraiser at the Capitol Theatre

Join us for an evening of films made by local youth on Saturday, January 23rd at 7pm at the Capitol Theatre in Nelson. Selected films from emerging filmmaking talent from Mt Sentinel Secondary School, Selkirk College Digital Arts program and Digital Film Camp for Youth will be shown, programmed by Kootenay filmmaking mentors Heather Shippit and Amy Bohigian. The event is a fundraiser for Oxygen Art Centre’s 2nd Annual Youth Arts Festival, and in keeping with the festival’s goals the evening celebrates the work of youth ages 15-29. Tickets are $5 and mature content is advised.

Oxygen Art Centre’s Youth Arts Festival aims to encourage youth to pursue their artistic talents and interests, and those of their peers in a professional and meaningful way, that can be celebrated by the community at large though attendance at the all-ages events. On Saturday January 23rd the Capitol Theatre will become a youth arts epicentre with auditions for the Talent Slam taking place during the day from 2-5pm, followed by the film night fundraiser at 7pm.
